Hardware Engineer – II

(Full Time Employment)

Description of Role:  This position is for a technical electronics development engineer who typically is responsible for or works in all phases of the hardware and test systems development life cycle having been provided with the concept strategy from the Hardware Chief. You will be responsible for the performance of hardware requirement analysis, schematic and PCB design, hardware, wiring, and enclosure development, test and validation methodology. Responsibilities will also include departmental supply of technical customer support, tracking and resolution of hardware /software related issues.

– Completes tasks on time or notifies appropriate person(s) in time to develop alternate or optional strategies.

 Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Chief Hardware Engineer in new product development
  • Ability and willingness to where multiple hats such as system prototype assembly and design verification.
  • Ability to select components and support purchasing and BoM generation activities.
  • Debugging prototype hardware down to component level.
  • Electromagnetic compatibility, relays, switches, and connectors.
  • H/W and S/W test and validation.
  • Vehicle E/E systems, bus messaging, and test tool integration into the vehicle/components.
  • Technical customer interface.
  • Interfacing with S/W Engineering, project engineers, electricians.
  • Some travel required installation/debug, start-up assistance and training at various customer locations.

Qualifications:

– BSEE or Equivalent

– 5-7+ Years of experience with E/E systems, bus messaging, and test tool integration into

the vehicle/components.

– Experience using OrCad for PCB Layout

– Industry experience in Automotive electronics design and test instrumentation

– Knowledge of S/W and H/W Handshaking

– Knowledge of remote I/O along with various field bus protocols

– Experience with Ethernet Applications

– Experience with generating 2D Schematics, Wiring Diagrams, Panel Layouts, Cable Drawings, Detailing

 Preferred Qualifications:

– Proficient with SolidWorks or Similar 3D Modeling

– Experience with CAN, LIN, Automotive ethernet and Motor controls.

– Accomplished PCB Design Development utilizing OrCAD (schematic and PCB)

– Strong knowledge of vehicle mechatronic systems and test stand interface, electrical schematic design

– Familiar with 2D CAD for test chassis and panel design

Software Engineer – II

Description of Role:  This position is for a software development engineer who typically is responsible for all phases of the software and test applications development life cycle having been provided with the concept strategy from the Software Chief. You will be responsible for the performance of software requirement analysis, flow and application design, as well as, development, test and validation methodology. Responsibilities will also include departmental supply of technical customer support.

 Essential Position Professional Attributes:

Adaptability:

– Adapts to changes in the work environment; manages competing demands; changes approach or method to best fit the situation; able to deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events.

Dependability:

– Completes tasks on time or notifies appropriate person(s) in time to develop alternate or optional strategies.

 Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Chief Software Engineer in new product development.
  • Be responsible for a project for its full life-cycle, from planning, through implementation and development, and including end-user support.
  • H/W and S/W test and validation.
  • Technical customer interface.
  • Interfacing with S/W Engineering, project engineers, electricians collaborating in project planning.
  • Some travel required installation/debug, start-up, and training at various customer locations.

Qualifications:

– BSSE or Equivalent

– 3-5+ Years of experience with E/E systems, bus messaging, and test tool integration into the vehicle/components.

– Experience with compiled programming languages such as C/C++ or VB/C# with the Microsoft .NET framework.

– Be familiar with the use of version control software.

– Ability collect vehicle communication logs with tools such as VehicleSpy.

– Analyze and reverse engineer those logs for use in automotive test applications.

– Familiarity with TCP/IP and computer networking.

– Have fundamental knowledge and understanding of electronics and be familiar with the use of basic tools and equipment, including meters and oscilloscopes.

– Knowledge of remote I/O along with various field bus protocols such as CAN, LIN, and Vehicle ethernet.

– Experience in module level or firmware testing, validation.

Analytical ability to apply logical reasoning, test assumptions, observe results and make corrections

– A stable work history.

 Preferred Qualifications:

– BSSE preferred.

– Qualified candidates who thrive in collaborative work cultures and have been successful developing and/or using innovative technical concepts

– Experience regression testing software, testing hardware systems, as well as, embedded and/or hardware experience a plus.
